Its obvious some of you love Single Speed and some of you loathe the very idea, its the Marmite conundrum

So I'm, just curious as to how many have and how many do not so a ratio of users to non users can be worked out. It'd be ironic if the ratio was 2:1 in favour or against ;)

Nope, I cant say I have really been tempted by one. I like the simplicity, but I prefer the flexibility of gears for climbs and (more so) descents

I can't believe how diverse Single speeds can be, wasn't until a decent ride through the woods last night that actually, I didn't miss gears at all :D

Is the undecided button for those that have so many bikes they can't remember if they have an SS or not??

It's like that poll in the paper last week. 9% of the people asked were not sure if they were excited about the Olympics or not. I mean, come on, its one or the other. Easy.

Back on topic. Yes. I have two singlespeeds and love them to bits. They do have limitations though. I would not use a singlespeed for an epic in the mountains. Nor would I use a retrobike for that matter. Horse for courses and all that.

Yes, I've recently rebuilt my Gary Fisher into a fully-rigid Singlespeed.

And I'm loving it, as it gives me another option instead of taking the road bike for just short trips on the road.

Probably not the best solution if it's your only bike (or maybe not...) but there are times when a Singlespeed makes very good sense!

I think it'll settle down around 2.4:1 (63" in old money, 39x16)

Mine's fixed, doesn't get much simpler than that, just have to be careful approaching logs...
