I bought a set of SIDS for a build thinking it needed a tapered steerer. Turns out I was wrong. I happen to have a Sid carbon CSU that I thought I could just swap over and use the internals from the tapered fork CSU. Turns out I could be wrong due to the Sid a/b CSU differences.
Anyone versed in the subtleties of a vs b? What are my options? Can I do the swap as planned (Sid a CSU with Sid b internals), can I use a Sid a CSU in a Sid b fork with Sid a internals? Would I be better off using a Sid b CSU and forget using the carbon CSU for this project?
Fortunately I do have a b CSU I can use, bought for another fork before I realised there was any difference, but I'd hoped to use the carbon CSU on the frame which is also carbon.
Another question is how can I tell if I can use an x-loc upgrade kit with the a or b CSU? It's a new kit bought recently but now I've discovered the a vs b, I'm not sure which CSU it will work with.
