Hi all, new member here đź‘‹

Sharing a photo of my 1997 Rockhopper A1 FS (Dark Teal Satin). I was bought this for my 13th birthday by my late father, so not only is this bike just a thing of beauty (in my opinion) , it holds real sentimental value for me too.

I grew up in Bracknell, so spent a lot of my childhood in Swinley Forest on this (and other) bike(s). Swinley is well managed nowadays, but back then we were free to roam and explore as we pleased - it was heaven, especially on my Specialized.

As I grew up and life got busy the bike was left to deteriorate, but I've recently started restoring it to its former glory. You'll notice the child seat on the back - I've started taking my eldest lad (2.5 yrs) out on little rides around town and he absolutely loves it which is just amazing.

As mentioned, I'm new here so still navigating the forums and figuring it all out, but I'm looking forward to getting stuck in and hopefully getting to know a few people - please feel free to drop me a message or reply - I'd love to chat bikes with you all.

I'm relatively amateur with bike restoration, but I'm hoping to restore a couple of other retro Specialized bikes, so if anyone has any tips on best threads to follow for hints & tips / part compatibility / online stores etc that would be appreciated.

Cheers all,
Tom
Still got my 91 rockhopper from my childhood, I wouldn’t part with it due to the memories it has made (some at swinley also)

Looks amazing
Thank you, it has it's scratches here and there but it seems it hasn't been used that much. Most of the work was cleaning, polishing and getting the old grease out of the shifters. It's all original except for the cables, rim tape tubes and tyres.
