thanks guys

thank you guys, i have always had a real sweet spot for overburys, i was very interested to see just what the frame geometry changes had occurred, in what was a relatively short space of time, its quite fasinating, when you put the two pics of the bikes together like that.

thank you guys love the bikes and the thread , keep up the good work.....

p.s, lgf love the detail on your fluted seatpost, but most of all the attention to detail on the bottle cage, cool.

Some great pics here - I must dig out my Crossfell & start putting it together again, especially as I think I have all the bits I need now, except possibly a seat stem (The guy who replaced the seat tube for me reamed it out to 27.2 instead of the 26.8 of the original!)

I'll post a couple of pics when I get them out the loft!

Re: Pioneer XC 1986

Hey Dan,
the Guy in the last photo-is that Steve Devine?-I remember him in the 'Pioneer versus The Rat' article in Bicycle Action BITD.
Nice to know someone else on here was at the Easter Mountainbike Festival at Llanwyrtyd!!

I've just posted this resto in the readers' bikes section, but I thought I'd dig up some more Overbury's pics from around the country for this more specialist thread:

I really loved that bike....at posing at Malham Cove.

Stuck in the mud on the Claerwen Reservoir circuit

My sort of road, back route up Snowdon from Llanberis

Posing on Otterspool Prom, Liverpool. I'd sprayed the 2tone blue frame to this blackcurrant yoghurt to reduce interest from the scallies. Still had day-glo green cables though

Beachy Head, and hair!

This was Easter 1986 in Llanwrtyd Wells. I think this is the first 3 Pioneers built. Mine is the 2tone blue in the middle. At the back is the red/silver one belonging to Steve Devine from Overbury's/The mountain Centre, at the front is my mate Dudley White's silver/blue one. As you can see it was cold and wet...It snowed later that day.

My recent frame purchase from a Bristol bike shop. I put the wheels etc on to have a look at the geometry.

U/k model but was advertised as a Pioneer. It is completely fillet brazed which seems rare, has top routed cables, and no canti-stop (assuming V brake specific).

There are remnants of declas, Overbury's in small lettering at the front of the top tube, an "O" on the seat tube and head tube.

I am guessing is either a late Pioneer / custom frame. The shop (Overbury's) confirmed it was an Overbury's but nothing else.

It is in a state and will take an age to sort out. The seat post is stuck fast, possibly beyond my abilities and I havent attempted to remove the BB yet!

There are no dents in the tubing but I am a little concerned as I THINK there is a ripple under the down tube where it meets the head tube!!! Obviously this may mean a front end impact. I hope not as that could mean a write off, the angles look OK from the mock up but no forks came with it which would back that theory up.
