I picked up this “well used “ 96 Avalanche off FB Marketplace last weekend for the grand total of Ten pounds!
Full LX, Mavic 221’s in gold, Ritchey Megabytes…
Should clean up not too bad I think and I’ll use it as a shop/pub hack.

Can anyone give anymore information on this please? Believe it to be early 90’s.

Unusual fit too. Short and boxy. More like a downhill or BMX jersey.

Cool top. I had one back in 1991 I think. I had a 1991 GT Avalanche and wanted a GT race jersey (blue/yellow split). My dad was a salesman at the time and drove all over the place and dropped by Caratti Imports in Yate, Bristol who were the UK distributers for GT as no shops seem to stock the jersey. Anyway he came home with your top. I wasn't exactly over the moon as I wanted a more traditional fitting lycra top. I do have a photo (blurred) of me wearing it at the start of a race at Margam Park. Never saw many of them around and would have been UK specific due to Caratti being UK based.

Mark Batt wore this exact jersey at the Malvern's during he bunny hop competition. He worked for Caratti (customer services?) and was world bunny hop record holder...

Look at 9min 32secs and you'll see him in your jersey!

Thanks for the information. 91 is what I thought, ties in with GT All Terra 3 stripe logo and typeface they used. Like the graphics on my 91 Karakoram Elite too.

From what you’ve said it could be a UK exclusive. As Caratti was the GT importer for the Uk.

Crazy part is I found the matching shorts a week later. Even rarer? Not seen any other photos of these online.

I still wear my long sleeved GT jersey (blue/yellow Team Scream colours) when I can, I have owned that since 1992/93 and I don't care what people think! I like wearing bright colours when out on the bike to be more visible to other road users.
