Re:

I have a Giant Super Sierra frame ( with XT front mech ) and forks that I acquired several years ago with the intention of
building a touring/expedition bike . However the project remains ' on hold '

The frame dates to 1996 , and was completely XT equipped , the last of the Super Sierras ?

My query is , where did this bike fit in the Giant ' range ' of that time and how did
it relate to other MTB's of the period in terms of price/performance

Here's mine the run around bit of road use its fine then if off road handles a charm. Have a cadex 3 that's in the process of being restored.

This is my 1997 Giant Boulder Alu Lite, sports series hard-tail with a 6061 Aluxx frame. I've had her from new, I used her as a London commuter until 2004 then she got rigged up with a baby seat (hence that odd short rear mudguard). Now I live in the country and shes my winter ride.
Yesterday a husband of a friend of the wife spotted it in the garage and exclaimed "wow! Super-rad retro mountain bike! my Dad had one of those!"
I felt very old.......

2 x ATX's need finishing, other two (XTC1 & Anthem X SL1) are modern

Need to update this as the CFM-3 has gone to a new home. See signature for the CFM1 now in it's place 👍

Here's my old singlespeed Cadex from a few years back. Sold the frame on to someone on here a while back, but really loved that bike. It was just a shade too short when the speed picked up, and felt a bit too twitchy on fast rocky descents. Awesome otherwise though, and such fun.

Very sorry about the lack of bar-end plugs

Miss this still.
