You must be gutted to be losing the capri but that project looks awesome. What engine will go in?
Polo looks pretty hard! What are the wheels? Can't say i.ve seen them before. What's the polo like on fuel? Could be a cool car for the mrs when she's killed the saxo vtr she's about to get
Yeah, sad to see the Capri go, especially as i probably wont get another 3.0S
The Escort is pretty cool though, it's been a Tarmac car all it's
days so the shell is 100% solid, just a little untidy with cracked
filler around the arches etc, also the front is a bit rough through
punting hay bales out the way, going to be fitting MK4 bumpers
though so this will be covered.
It ran a stout Rover V8 in it's day, apparently was very
successfull, ranked 7th in it's last rally in Belgium
(still had it's stickers on when i got it)
Build plan for now is (it's changed a few times), five linked
2.0 or 2.8i Capri back axle, type 9 or MT75 Ford five speed box,
Vauxhall 2.0 16V XE motor running on Jenvey (or similar) throttle
bodies, plain red bodywork, 9x15 Revolution five spokes in white,
interior will be Sparco buckets with harnesses, RS Turbo dash, door
cards and electric windows (already have these), bolt in cage,
standard Escort heater wont fit due to trans tunnel so going to
use a universal Kit car one.
I've no intention to race or rally it, going to use it as a road car.
The wheels on the Polo are 7x13 Borbets, they are pretty rare
from what i've gathered, motor is a standard 1.3 MPI GT one,
only 74 bhp but pretty nippy, fuel is pretty good even driving with
lead boots on
