Coming soon, my '97 Twister rebuilt as a full-suspension singlespeed*.

*Looking back through the thread, it's only taken me 7 years to get round to doing it. But now I have a suitable Fox Alps 5s rear shock, wheels, 1/2 link chain nd everything else sitting around ready to assemble, and a couple of free hours this afternoon to bolt it all together.

Well that was….disappointing.

I dug the Twister out, fully intending to put the “carefully curated” collection of parts onto it to make a full suspension singlespeed. Only to find I have a wall-hanger .

There’s a crack almost the entire length of the head tube. Game over (for now?)

I am tempted to try to find a frame repairer who is prepared to replace a head tube on the aluminium front triangle at a reasonable price, then hand paint the front and reattach the head badge and go again.

Alternatively, does anybody have a replacement front triangle they could part with? Or does anybody need a good rear triangle/swing arm to resurrect their Twister?

Here’s my modified 92 Lightning XTR. As don’t do much proper off road nowadays it’s currently a winter/gravel set up. Lovely bike but I’ll probably move it on over the next month or so as I have something else to finish, so watch the forum folks
