Hmm, okay my turn
A couple of Hand me downs as a child,
first new bike: Raleigh Roadrunner SS.
Raleigh Wayfarer - salvaged from the bike sheds of the Durham College I lived in - definitely abandoned, so I rebuilt it and used it for years.
I then started working for Halfords and got the bug:
1989 Specialized Hardrock - too big but the only size we had left and dirt cheap after staff discount.
Got the Mrs a Hardrock Comp afterwards. It was better.
91 Dynatech Sentinel. Stolen.
93 Kona Fire Mountain with Specialized Future Shocks ( Cooksons told me that RS Quadras were an option, so I ordered one on that basis but they weren't. Shop was very good and let me have the FS for the same money. Came with RM17s instead of the Bonty rims specced. Later fitted with Pace RC35s and any amount of purple nonsense.
97 Marin Rift Zone. Bought with money my dad left me when he died, I loved this bike. added a girder stem, Answer DH bars and 636s. Did me until 2000 when my life went bonkers. Sold to fund (essential) Premier Signia drum kit as I went pro.
Long break.
Short return involving a Saracen X ile as a commuter (!) in 2001 and a Saracen Ikon as a keep fit whim in about 06.
In 2009 a Marin Alpine Trail procured as a commuter. Unwise as journey 13 miles each way. Sold. ( bad move, lovely bike for offroading, would have another in a heartbeat)
Giant Hybrid. Unworthy of attention.
Discover Retrobike.
Cannondale Hybrid on Bike to work scheme.
91 Dynatech sentinel from classifieds - sold due to idiocy - will soon be replaced.
96 Rift Zone - ebay bargain, brilliant ride and currently rebuilding to my original's spec. Every bit as good as I remember, got all the bits for the rebuild bar the 636s.
A second Rift Zone as donor bike so now I have a bunch of spares too.
This rebuilding lark is fun, especially when the bike is such a great ride.
