Following in the popular theme of "show us your... XYZ" threads here's one for you all to show off your very best bike related bodges, I'm not talking about merely fitting non-period correct grips to your favourite steed

No, I'm talking about the real Heath Robinson approaches to some of the problems thrown up by retro bikes...

Here's my latest effort...

SKS Commuter mudguards, lower fitting point goes on the chainstay bridge... guess what? my e-stay frame doesn't have a chainstay bridge!!
Cue me looking around my spares box for a solution, then I saw it, a front reflector handlebar mount, using a longer bolt, which goes through a chainring to space the mudguard out closer to the tyre

I guess a better solution would be a clamp-on bottle cage mount, but that costs money, would be difficult to fit to the ovalised seat tube, and wouldn't be half as much fun to put together

Dunno if this is a bodge, but my GT frame came with no U brake bosses so I made some adapters to run some V's

Is it time for a best bodges poll, and then best bodges badge?

Try saying that when you're squiffy.

Re:

Sadly no pics, but one of my best bodges was on a frame had a broken brake stud mount where the v-brake spring was retained in the frame. The result? No tension on that v-brake side.

For the next couple of years, I used a 3 foot bungie carefully wrapped around various parts of the chain stay, seat tube and v-brake to provide just enough tension to stop it dragging against the rim. Worked well enough until I found a titanium welder who could fix it.

Re:

Unwilling to pay £60 for the right factory Cannondale castle tool to take my daughters Headshox forks apart.....I bodged this together  :D .. Surprisingly it works really well
