No it won't be younger.

I have a bike you can ride. :)

Will let you know.

Re:

It works! It was actually at least as fast as my wife's modern Cinder Cone which I've been using for the past few weeks - when I came back and switched to the Cinder Cone I nearly fell off, it felt so wrong! Once I get a spoke for the front wheel I'll fit the matching front tyre - the white sidewalls are a bit overwhelming really but they were cheaper than black which made my decision (who said the Scots were tight?)

Epicyclo (and Jamie) - this weekend is definitely off for me sadly but next Saturday is looking good. There should be another hour of usable sunshine in the afternoon/evening too, with the clocks going forward before then...

The weather looks like it was good for you, it was a cracking day up here. That machine is looking good out there doing what its meant to do.
I and, I am assuming Brian as well, will be at Forth Fat next weekend, but we will definately get a ride in soon. It will be good to ride 'locally' with the Macretro clan :)

Re:

Ah well, pretty much any Saturday is normally fine for me and hopefully the weather will only get better!

It was actually quite cold and even raining a bit the first half of today, but by the time late afternoon came round it was much nicer and I'd got the day's work pretty much done so I couldn't resist getting out for a 40 minute spin. The roadster is a bit tatty but I'm gaining confidence in it (this is only the second time I've had it out) and looking forward to maybe doing some greater distances soon; I find it so much more comfortable on the wrists especially than any of the other bikes in the shed. Plus I don't feel the same need to be going flat out all the time that I do when on the road bike which suits a nice sunny afternoon :)

Its nice to find a machine like that, I suppose my long Haul Trucker is like that, in as much as it is much more relaxed being a 26'' tourer, than either the Merckx or the Concorde. The racers are brilliant, dont get me wrong, but on the trucker its nice not to be going as quick as possible, racing as it were, and just actually cruise along riding purely for the sake of riding.
Shit, I must be getting old ;)

Not sure a Rudge Bi Frame classes as a Rudge, its more of a badge engineering thing if its the mtb your referring too. Those were early Montague folding bikes before they came up with the latest design.

The big Montague patent sticker is a bit of a giveaway. :)

But then Rudge weren't adverse to using outside design. Their sport bikes of the late '30s were designed by Jack Lauterwasser, the Lauterweight manufacturer (and a cycling silver medal at the 1928 Olympics).
