Show us what you did today, thread

I have been mucking about with our latest ride trying to get it setup so I can see what other modifications need done to suite Caleb.
Not too much really and then get it setup for general touring.

Hi Clubby,
Recently picked up a 1990 Fuchs MTB frame. I’ve got a build thread going in the main readers rides section. Just waiting on a couple of parts to arrive as I said. I’ve got new hubs coming, so next week I’ll be building a set of wheels. Hopefully get out on it a week on sat weather permitting. Watch yourself if you go out on your own, you can go much faster when the kids not attached to the back of you!

Nice looking build. Had a mtb with 130mm rear once. Didn’t know until I replaced the frame and there was a gaping chasm between the hub lock nuts and the dropouts. Couldn’t afford a new wheel as well, so just squeezed it all together and rode it for a year until I could

Re:

Snap! I’ve done that before. The frames long gone but the rear wheel in the build pics is the one I bought in 92ish. My son “borrowed” it for his bike. So now I find myself building another for the Fuchs. Never thought I’d need a 130 rear again. Nice to know I’m heading in the right direction with the build, thanks.

That Tandem looks great - but I have to ask why are the bottle holders fitted to the rear only?

With the cross brace there doesn’t seem to be much room for a bottle on either the down tube or the seat tube.
Caleb had a quick shake down ride and he is still just a tiny bit short for the pedals but we have some crank shorteners on the way as he is not far off so no need to faff round with kiddy cranks.
Sorting levers and then I will retape my bars, will leave the secondary rear brake disconnected until we can settle on bars for Caleb.

Re:

Hubs arrived yesterday so I made a start on my wheels. Rear built yesterday, front today. Almost finished my build, hope the weather stays good for the weekend.
The flying Scot tandem looks ace! I’ve never been on one but it’s on my bucket list of things to do.

Re:

Today I finished my Fuchs build. I’ll swap the lx rear mech for the xt one once it arrives. The weather was nice so thought I best take the opportunity to get out.
