Picked up two Slingshots in the last month (I know completely bizarre as these don't come up too often)

Just working out how to build it to make it period and components correct. The one I prefer and will build up is a 1993 era with extended seat tube, 1" headset (Thanks Matt) The other is a folding type from a more recent period.

Interested to see if there are any other Slingshot owners/riders on here so I can see how you have built them?

Please share :)

Re:

Very nice Jez. I've still got my red one that I very nearly sold, glad I didn't now. I was advised to go with a rigid fork up front to keep it from getting a bit too noodly, I've an accutrax fitted to mine. I like no-nonsense builds on these, something like an M735 groupset although I've got mainly xc-pro on mine.
What's the paint like? Getting it repainted is an issue because you'd need to remove the springboard which isn't recommended so I just touched up mine.
Look forward to the build.

Nice Steve.

Yeh paint is crappy in places (they simply do a quick powdercoat it seems) but it's fine and I've touched up into rider condition. When built these always look 10 times better so I'm not too worried.

What was the retail on these back in the day? Seen some with pretty high end kit and some with low end stuff (some even with disk drives, Syncros and Ringle so i assume high end).

Think M900 or M735 as you say is destined for this with Syncros to suit also.

Interesting to note about the fork - was planning on manitou 2s, but have a 1" P2 fork that would suit it perfect also.

Re:

I've got one of the newer folder ones 'cos Steve wouldn't sell me his

It's actually in pieces at the moment and i am awaiting a new Dogbone from the States as i had to destroy the old one 'cos it wouldn't come out of the top tube

I'm ashamed to say that i have no pics of it built up
