I love threads like this, it helps to keep the fires burning.
I don't suppose Chas would mind a camp fire story amongst friends for those that haven't heard the story, any more than he would mind for those of us who just like old bike stories about bikes.
So Viz was a thing back in the day, for those who found humor in its pages, (long before the woke movement you understand).
(So From the horses mouth so to speak.)
He had a young lad that helped in the workshop, would always read the magazine, finding it hilarious.
Working hard to finish the new frame and running behind to get it finished the night before heading off to the Malvern's, for a weekend of racing and a meet with MBUK, they realized we hadn't come up with a name, the lad from the workshop came in and saw the frame for the first time, and went wow, that's the Dogs Bollox.
(the phrase was coined and caught on thanks to Viz magazine/comic).
Everybody laughed, they knew exactly what it meant. And so it was, the new Roberts project had its model name.
The next day with it now complete and at the Malverns, the interest in it was amazing, with lots of interest and questions from MBUK, when asked what the name stood for, he quickly had to come up with something off the top of his head, so he did just that, he used it as an acronym.
And the D.O.G.S. B.O.L.O.X was born and used as a bench mark ever since.
(just don't ask me to remember his version of the acronym now, I'm old and tired and its getting late.,..lol)
