Should I go fixed?

There is absolutley no reason whatsoever for anyone, ever, to ride a fixed bike off road... FACT.

There's absolutely no reason to ride a bike offroad at all, except because they want to. Hence, if they want to ride fixed...

Been thinking about this and came to the conclusion that it probably hurts less crashing off road than on the track and if you're really good at endoes most things will be possible to ride, still don't fancy it myself but would'nt mind seeing someone have a go

In late September last year I did a 6 hour ride in the Wye Valley with an eclectric group of bikes and riders (including, from memory, a Maverick with 6 inches of travel both ends, fully rigid Vit T, tandem, rigid drop barred ss 29er, Epic full suspension). It took me 3 hours to realise that the guy on the rigid drop barred 29er wasn't just riding ss but fixed  , especially impressive as I was only just starting out on fixed on road and having the usual "forgetting to pedal kick up the arse".

Riding off road fixed is, for me, madness. But this guy really ruled, especially riding down a very rocky gully - the skilled rider on the Maverick dabbed but not the guy riding fixed. If I was not there I'd say it was not possible.

Didn't make me want a go though.

Pulled the trigger there. I'm really not sure why this thread made it past my first post
