Shogun Trailbreaker 2 - can anyone tell me what year?

I just rescued this shabby old Shogun from my LBS, who were waiting on the scrap man to collect it.

It's obviously nothing special, but most of the parts are with it and hopefully usable, so I'm planning to see how tidy I can get it with a bit of work.

What I can't work out is what year it might be, any ideas?

Far too nice to let the scrapman have, between 88 and 90 probably more toward the earlier date with the U/roller brake being chainstay mounted.
