Shipping from US

Thats interesting about the USPS, I wasn't aware of that.

If the cost goes any higher it might be worth trying to smuggle bike parts hidden in a bag of smack, the smack might be easier to get through!

Well thats wierd. My Trimble came via Parcel Force who sent me a letter saying they wanted the 23 quid out of me before they would deliver it. This was sent using USPS.

£23 quid wasnt bad tho so Im not complaining.

Over here we have a $500 limit on duty free imports.. Any item bought on Ebay etc. second hand is only subject to a taxation if it's declared as more than AU$500 [US$380ish]..

Quite topical this post as I've just potentially found my first Retro Rig.. Just got to sort out portage from the States..

So who did everyone ship with? USPS? And how much for a boxed bike including pick up from Seller etc.?

Maybe we should have a "How To Internationally Ship Your Retro Ride" sticky with others' experiences etc.?

thanks!

Hi again,

Thanks for all the replies - guess need a bit of luck.

What do you guys think of this:

He has sent some poor quality pics and says there MAY be a crack in the seat tube but may just be a scratch?!

I'll try and attach a pic and see if it works...

Mmm difficult one.

It doesnt look like a crack as they tend to run down from the clamp gap as opposed to across like in the picture.

May be worth a gamble but if in doubt and a lot of money (add 100 quid on for customs just as an estimate) dont bother.

Ummm. You may be in difficulty. The local bike shop here has the tools to install the Klein headset but tracking a replacement down will be tricky I can assure you! Still maybe worth a punt!

Hey,

Nope - the auction hasn't finished yet...

Bit worried about the headset issue though - anyone know if they are available to buy and if so how much roughly do they go for...

Maybe worth spending more and avoiding this hassle although don't mind the hassle as long as I'm not stuck with a frame I can't use!

Cheers,

Miles
