Shipping Bikes from North America to the UK

I'm researching what it costs to ship a full bicycle from Canada to the UK for another member here and the estimates I got from Bike Flights and Fedex were really high (best estimate was over $500 for Bike Flights). I was expecting something more in the $200 range. I'm wondering what members here who've shipped bikes from the UK to North America have paid and if the rate was significantly lower than what Bike Flights cited who did you use?

I would say minimum $300. And that's if it's not too heavy and you basically declare it as a low value gift with no insurance...

Which isn't to be recommended.

We have a good trade account for bike import / export. It’s now £250 minimum for a bike from US to U.K.

I just quoted shipping one from Toronto area to Lancashire area....hold your breath

was over $800 CAD for the cheapeast option, and easily $1000-$1500 for most

box was 42 lbs .... 62"x10"x32"

Don’t know if still works, but people used to try splitting into two packages one with the wheels, one with the frame and bits…

Yes, this what I got for Vancouver to London. That's nuts!
