Dirt Disciple
hi all - my xtr 900 right hand sfifter has broken ( snapped where the screw that goes from underneath up through to hold the actual moveing leaver on ???? ) if that makes sense ? Been looking on Ebay for a while but no luck for a right side & didnt want to pay the earth for a pair . Does anyone know if an xt pod of the same year would fit just untill i find a right side ( or even better if some one has one for sale ? ) thanks all

Re:

Hi beeds,
I think in theory you're right, it should be ok to fit the xt pod.

You will need to refit the gear cable and make sure the locating pins on the xt pod match up with the locating holes on the xtr brake lever.
Should be a simple fix :)

Re:

You could probably even fit just the innards and use the xtr top and bottom covers. It's a bit of a faff to get the top one off iirc, but patience and care are your friend.

Re:

tricky and you could end up with your xt bits that work going everywhere. can be done but if your not so good with this sort of thing i would go with my first post ;)

XT is 7spd. XTR is 8spd. Therer are no other generations of 8spd shifter that fit the XTR M900 lever.

But...

The shifting lever part from the XT pods should be interchangeable with the XTR.

Theres are reverse thread nut that should hold it all together

Re:

I am looking to replace a left hand side / front shifter m900 xtr. Good opportunity for a potential seller to split a complete set into two.

Re: xtr shifter

@ ferry - what about going halfs on a ebay pair - you take the left & i will take the right ????? sounds like a plan to me ?

Re:

Hi there,
Once I also face kind of problem. It was left shifter but luckily, I found the same model and fix it.
I think you take the right decision, xt pod should be fit and use it until you get the xtr 900 right shifter.
