Shimano rear calipers needed for '87 Peugeot... pictures!

Retro Newbie
Hi, hope you can help me with something that I've been unable to answer by trawling the web.

I recently bought a late 80s Peugeot. It's 501 but has got some lovely finishing kit on it. The only problem is that when it was built it had short-drop calipers on the rear and they foul the tyre.

I'd really like to replace these with something of the same period (pref. Shimano 600!) that work with the shifters and look similar to the front calipers. Does anyone have anything suitable or know where I might find some? Even some part names that I could search for would be a great help!

Anyway, everyone like pics so here they are. Any comments or suggestions welcome!

Thank you!

I cant work out how to make the pictures above bigger, but hopefully they show the model of brake well enough.

Are there any good second-hand bike part sellers websites? Really want to get out and ride this thing!

Thanks,

Yep! You need the longer drop caliper, I had the same issue with my Peugeot Paris-Nice. I think i've got a Shimano 600 caliper in the garage somewhere, I'll take a look tomorrow and let you know.

Thank you for looking Brian. Was the model number different for the long-drop version of this part? there are loads on eBay but they all seem to look the same as mine. I think it's 49mm drop and I need up to 59mm?

Be great if you can find one and are willing to part with it Roger!

Re:Rear brake

Sorry for delay, Laptop playing up.

First, is it allen key mounted?

Second, on the rear of the brake arm on adjuster it will have a Shimano part no.- I have 2 types.

Roger.

Re:

Thanks for looking, it seems to say BR-6028 on the back? it's allen key mounted, I have a top-down picture of it which hopefully shows up below!

Re:Caliper

Have checked mine, they are "B1050". I assume that they are 105.
as is Shimano practice the back is also engraved with the depth covered by the brake.
Mine are 47-57 mm. Yours should be marked 39-49.

They have been lying around for sometime and I am just happy to see the pair go to help someone out.

Roger.
