Shimano Deore XT Shifter ST-M095 Rebuild

Just dug this great thread out as I have a couple of units to rebuild.
Do you know if the process is exactly the same for ST-M900?
No. Sorry. I haven't looked at M900 shifters. In any case, I only documented the right hand shifter, but if I recall correctly the left hand shifter has slightly different internals.

Here's a few tips:

1. If you have a helmet or body cam, record the disassembly process so that you've got a record of how it all goes together. And lay all the parts out in order in neat rows.

2. Many parts are handed, and only fit one way around/up. Lay all the parts down the same way up as they came off the shifter. Don't rotate or flip them over.

3. Use a tray to contain loose parts. I find the cardboard trays that tins are packed on at supermarkets are good for containing parts, grease and dirt.

4. On the ST-M095, the nut holding the shifter assembly together is a left hand thread (clockwise to loosen). The M900 might be the same, so don't apply a huge amount of torque to loosen the nut unless you're absolutely sure that you know what the thread direction is.

Shimano Deore XT, Front-dérailleur, Left-hand Shifter ST-M095 Rebuild

I recently found an old SD card with some images on it, that I had completely forgotten about.

There were some images showing how I rebuilt the left-hand, front-dérailleur shifter.

The left-hand shifter is very different from the right-hand shifter, so some people may find these images helpful.
