The current Deore's are superb.

As long as the price is ok shimano brakes are good. The big downside is theyre meant to be completely disposable :? No spares, no seals. When they start to leak you throw them away and buy more.
Personally, though i admit to being biased
you wont ever have that problem with Hopes.
Nice Hopes ive seen turn up on Ebay at about £100 - Pair of just serviced mono pros with floating discs. Post mount and mint condition- £80(still had the service record showing them done 2 months earlier)which cost £80 so effectively free.
Mint pair of mono minis @ £65 They were about 2 weeks ago :? i think i posted them up.
Mint pair of mono 6 with a pile of pads and 225 floaters x3 @£120- i did post these up at the time though wished i had the funds myself :cry: Bargain of the fooking century
Shimano is good and the saints i used were very impressive but the lack of serviceability means youre always shelling out big amounts :?

I love Hope's and money no object I'd have them every time simply because they feel special where as the Shimano ones are function parts, nothing more.
Saying that, it's hard to ignore the fact that Deore's give 90% of the Hope performance for 25% of the cost.
