Shimano 600 aero seatpost and quill stem

I was wondering few thing about these - are they worth the money? Are there any cheaper but better alternatives, and is it possible that 600 aero seatpost is cca 40g lighter than dura-ace aero seatpost but 100$ cheaper?

Odd question but how to you judge a good seatpost? Which is better? If it breaks it is bad if not - it is good. If this is the deciding factor - then there are plenty to chose from.

If it is weight, then generally the lower the weight the higher the price - providing weigh loss is due to some nice metal like titanium or maybe carbon.

I have a couple of 600 posts and at least three Dura Ace. I guess 2 of the DA ones are similar in weight to the 600, the third DA is lighter (Easton).

Any post is worth whatever money you pay for it providing it does not break!

I am not sure if anything there helps, perhaps you could rephrase the question and someone will be able to give you better info.

yes, well I was reffering to weight/price ratio...either way I will probably get one cuz I want to complete shimano 600 components.

your answer was very helpful, at least in way that it showed me how dumb my question was ;)

LOL
Sorry, that was not my intention at all. I have a 600 group on my Van Tuyl and it is great -

I have Dura Ace stuff foe a couple of builds - 7400, 7200 and AX - there is a lot of variation in seat posts. Oddly I have not got a pic of the variants - maybe something i should do.

Hehe well you were right, it was kinda dumb question, but who can write anything smart 1:20AM hehehe

lovely bike! I have the same group except brake calipers; mine do not have pad adjusting screw!
What chain you use on your bike?

Had to check that - I used this one -

Chain: KMC 7/8 Sp chain 116 links silver/grey (110 links in use)

Here is the link to the build thread -

More pics there and i think if you click on the pic above it links to more pics too.

I hope this is of use to you,

If by shimano stem, you are referring to these nitto made babies.. the most beautiful stem ever made... the DA ones use aluminium internal clamps for the handlebar and the lesser 600 ones use a metal of sorts.

Ah ok, so that is the difference. those stems are the ones I am thinking of. I read on velo, that 600 is lighter than DA :O

That would surprise me, they probably weighed a longer DA and/or shorter 600 stem.

There are various Dura Ace seat posts, I presume it would be possible to find one which is heavier than the Ultegra one. Here are some options -

I suspect I have another one somewhere. Too many? Not enough? The last one should be the lightest is it an Easton DA.
