Just luck or is there more to it.Identities protected

The earlier auction

Would it be an idea just to contact ebay and if theres anything suspicious then they should be able to find it

So what?

If the person that bought them is happy with the price they paid, who cares? If they didn't think they were worth £52, they wouldn't have placed such a high bid.

Are you just pissed that they went for more than you wanted to spend?

Knackered old bike bits selling for ridiculous prices... welcome to retrobiking.

Hmmmm.. I'm grumpy. Bedtime.

Sorry chap, was just wondering as both sets go for about the same price
Sure i would have like to have won them for less but not if the auction is a cheat

Must admit your reply seem a little abrupt

I used to " shill " bid all the time for a mate as everyone was using snipers. I ABSOLUTELY DID NOT KNOW IT WAS A BAD THING THAT WAS FROWNED UPON HERE. Jesus what a roasting I got from the " retro fundamentalists " who used to hang around this site!!
We'd bid up to roughly what he'd be happy to part with and then leave it. Suffice to say he still sells top retro kit but won't touch this website any more. Shame.
PLEASE would any sanctimonious types resist saying good riddance to him. We know NOW it was frowned on but not then.

Set a reserve price.....?

don't get me wrong here, i don't agree with shil bidding but in the above case you could argue that it was bidded to the minimum the seller would like then the 'real' bidding goes on assuming it hasn't been over shil bidded, arguably this means you get your reserve price without having to pay ebay listing fees for the reserve price.

ebay is my friend at the mo though, i put a motorbike petrol tank on starting at £10, expecting to be happy if i got 25 quid, final bid was 129 :D :D :D

As the listings were private it might be difficult to prove anything

I must say that the original auction the seller got them was very poorly listed so if he can flip them and make money from it well good luck to him imo.

Although that said, I don't agree with anything that artifically pushes up prices but sometimes stuff on eBay makes silly prices and it might just be the case the shifters genuinely made the prices without shil bids?

100% with you on this, list at 99p then if it shill bids up to say 10 pounds or whatever the reserve is but no further shill bidding happens i just see it as someone taking money off of ebay rather than off me.

Wow, all these "ethical" shill bidders, willing to bid items up to a notional reserve, but no further, oh no..... :roll

Its wrong and its illegal. Don't want to pay £2 or £3 quid to set a reserve on ebay, don't like ebays fee structure ? - simple. Don't use ebay. Go back to the card in the newsagents window. ;)

I don't condone shill bidding but go to a live auction and it happens all the time - auctooneers bouncing bids off the wall
