Shadow rear derailleur

I am repurposing a discarded M592 Deore Shadow Derailleur. It is all good apart from having its lower jockey missing. I have a spare 11t jockey and bolts, but the instruction sheet I pulled off the internet shows an "e-clip" that has to be removed to change this jockey wheel. Obviously I don't have that, the bolt or the jockey wheel. This clip looks the sort of thing you would never get back on anyway so will it be happy without or will I lose the jockey wheel at some point? I am thinking a bil of thread lock is called for....

It owes me nowt and I don't need to use it but I just thought I'd give a trendy looking one try!

Anyone know?

Re:

Post a photo. I imagine the hollow bolt for the jockey wheel is threadrd and there is a groove on the end for the circlip that prevents a loosened bolt dropping off ,as what is used for disc brake pad pins.

In which case loctite on the bolt threads is enough, wrap wire around the groove if you are being pranoid.

Re:

Every rear derailleur ive replaced jockey whhels on xt, lx xtr.sram xo has threaded bolt ... but you have sown the seeds of doubt, id be surprised if the bolt was just push in with clip.

Need to have a look at some mechs...

If it's the same as the xtr version, the bolt is threaded as is the mech plate. The c clip fits in the groove of the special bolt. Must be a safety thing but you should be fine without in theory.

Re:

The cage plate is threaded, I checked this morning. It had occurred to me after I posted that the jockey may only be held in by the clip! So threadlock it is, though I have noticed that the Claris mech on one of my road bikes has the bolt/clip arrangement and I am swapping this for an Ultegra 6600 mech so I could pinch the bolt off that.

That said I have found jockey wheels have stayed put with a simple bolt for the last 30 years.....so is it just a way to discourage changing worn out jockeys....cynical? Me? Yup!

Re:

While a look at the blowout diagram (way picture search or on Shimano)
Shows no circlip in use. A picture search shows there is this extra safety feature on the mech. Possible some revision of it.
