Another seatpost removal hint:

Allow some sort of release agent (I use 3in1 oil) to drip into the seatpost area via the waterbottle bolt holes and stand the bike upside down for a few days.

Lay bike on side on grass or soft area (but not too soft!)

Stand on the chainset/ BB area and place one foot on the offending seat

Jump.

Offending seatpost may or may not give out a loud 'crack' and start to twist in the frame.

Now is the time for big arms and lots of grunts as you spend the next hour twisting the post out...

Add Sun and beer/ tea/ breakfast/ Sunday morning and relax.

Well I'll be!

I had never thought to put oil into the frame using the bottle cage mounts.

Nice tip LGF.

There's usually a hole in the bottom bracket shell at the bottom of the seat tube as well, so you could get oil in that way as well if there aren't any bottle cage bosses on the seat tube.

...or, alternatively, take the seatpost binder bolt out first! ;)

...coat already donned and running shoes laced!

Same drip/spray in method can be used for bottom brackets etc, find any hole you can, though I put WD40 and bend the spray tube in.

Oh and keep the wheel in, learned BitD as you can easily bend the frame
