You shouldnt need to get the bb rethreaded, just make sure there is no damage to the threads and a good clean will be all

The new bottom bracket does not thread by hand all the way into the bottom bracket box. I can only thread the first half inch or less. That's what made me think I should have it rethreaded. I'm hesitant to wrench it all the way in for frear it will get struck. At least not until the frame is stripped and refinished.

You should be able to visably see if the threads are damaged, give them a good clean.

Some bb's i cant thread all the way in by hand, every now and then it sticks. The bb will not get stuck screwing it in. If it gets so hard using a tool to screw it in then stop and rewind and see whats causing the obstruction, usually just a bit of grit or something.
