The thing is that, no offence to the participants, a huge commercialised gathering is not really in the true spirit of the occasion. The weather may well be somewhat dreich, but lots of wee gatherings shall still commence. Those that don't have liability to worry on.

Our local school shut during that Amber weather warning a couple of weeks ago... although we weren't actually within its boundary - we were in the yellow zone - the weather wasn't that special.

Of course the consequence of shutting the schools is that some parents will have to take the day off work.
Some of those parents provide care and support (etc) that keeps others safe and alive!

"Road Safety" policy frequently used to oppose measures to increase cycling as it would in turn lead to greater injuries and deaths on the road...
