After noon all , hoping all is well with you guys , for some reason only known to me I have gone and bought a Scott Octane FX1 , frame only , so now I am looking for information on this bike , ie rear shock ( with remote reservoir ) seat post size BB size , fork and so on , can not find any info in Archive , many thanks .

How did you get on with building your FX1? I have the same frame which I planning to build so any help from your experience would be really useful. Thanks

sad to say it never happened , I found that the frame had a crack , so that was the end of that , I still have the rear shock if it's any use to you . good luck with your build , look out for cracks in the main frame and sing arm .

I’m based in the UK. Are you? If you are, and if your shocks rebound control is working properly, then I would be interested in taking it off your hands. My shock is the one part of the frames I have, which is a bit suspect regarding its dampening and I’ve found it impossible to find anyone to service it or to find any servicing instructions to allow me to do it myself. Please get back to me re the shock. Thanks.

Oh yes , down here in Sunny Bournemouth !!!!!!!! send me a picture of your shock , if it's the same as the one I have you can have it , just cover the postage

Here is a photo of my shock. Yours may not have the second red adjuster (for Rebound) but even if it hasn't (and has just the one adjuster on the piggy back for Compression) it won’t matter. The shocks are the same in eye to eye length and are interchangeable. Letting me have the shock with no charge is very kind of you. Please let me know how much the postage would be and how you’d like this paid to you.

Found it ,not in the best of conditions , the hose on the shock looks a bit worst for wear , paint on the spring has seen better days , but I think all the bushes are there , are you still interested ?? any thing else you are in need of ? IMG_2287.jpg

Hi. I think I say no to taking the shock, if that’s ok. With the condition of the hose it’s probable there’s been some loss of fluid. But thanh you for getting back to me, and your kind offer on the shock. I’m now veering towards buying a new 150x35 coil or a 165x35 air shock. While the 150 will fit easily (with some customising of the frame mounts to allow for larger diam bushes that all shocks seem to come with these days)), the 165 air will be a different story. It will require careful decisions on its orientation in the frame to ensure clearance on full compression hits, as well as additional brackets and possibly some offset bushes to accommodate the extra length while keeping the frame geometry. If I’m lucky the 165 shock and brackets will slacken the head angle a degree or two helping downhill control.
