Schwalbe land cruisers ?

Old School Grand Master
My tyres need replacing and I want a budget-ish set for the mucky time of year, will be mostly road but quite often light mud and back lanes.

This seem to be at a fair price and with some puncture resistance seem to fit the bill at around £20 a pair

Has anyone used/is using these and if not and are using something similar can you tell me wether they are good or bad

I'm using them in 700c land

Can I ask Grande

Given Schwalbe are supposed to be the nuts at punture protection, do you run a self sealing innertube and if so whats the wieght like? to heavy or not noticeable?

And if you run normal inners whats the punture protection been like?

cant really help as I'm running heavy budget wheels. innertubes are just what was lying around.

FWIW...many "resistant" tyres are not the easiest to get on/off especially when ones hands are cold and wet and its dark. Seeing as they ALL p******e sooner or later my winter preference is for reasonably robust tyres that I know I can fix in any conditions. Slimed tubes are pretty effective - if wheels take car-valves then buy the slime and DIY seems to be better than ready-slimed.

I haven't done my main winter wheels yet this year - I shall probably regret this quite shortly!

If you want puncture resistand go for one of the Schwalbe "plus" tyres, the others are just regular with no additional puncture protection. I used a set of Marathon Plus on my rough stuff commuter, pulled a carpet tack out and it didn't puncture. Replaced them with Continental when they wore out, that was a mistake. It's back to the Marathon Plus when the Contis wear out, oh they were a pain to get on.

I've got some, as they were getting good reviews at the time from the three peaks guys. I think they were just about the biggest carcass for a 35mm tyre but still ran well cos of the centre ridge. there was some mention of them being loose on some rims but I've had no problems. They're fine but for similar money,i much prefer conti twisters - Paul Milnes could probably still sort you out with some Kevlar ones...

sorry mis read thread. I was talking about 700c also. Wondered why this thread was in MTB section. Serves me right for browsing in works time...

I've ordered a set of 1.9/2.0 and will report back on them once they have taken some abuse
