Saracen Kili Flyer 87

Yeah! You still have the 87, I still have the 89. Sadly never rode the 87 - it was dangerously cracked. Looks lovely though. You did a nice job with the resto. More importantly - you're riding it!

They are an odd one these, I have seen several in this colour now including the one I owned, the blue was much lighter than the main pic in the catalogue which I took to be the electric blue and colour matched at the painters, not that it's a bad colour I just preferred the darker blue. I never got to ride mine really as it was far too big for me. We'd had it in the family since around 1992 and it had been painted several times, first silver then purple so I went back to catalogue spec. The reason for the paint I discovered was a repaired rear drop out. Long gone now to a new much taller owner :)

Carl.

I know this may not even get seen due to time elapsed but here goes...

Do you know the rear hub spacing please? I guess 126/130mm but hoping for 135.

thanks!

These came with 6 speed Uniglide rear gears so 130. Manufacturers sometimes went in the middle of 2 standards (128, 132) so you may find a bit of variation. If you are not of a nervous disposition, you can shove a 135 hub in a 130mm steel frame. 😉

Aaaand THIS is why I love retrobike!

Thanks for the unexpectedly quick response :)

130mm is fine, I've shoved a 135mm into a 130mm Peugeot I've got and it's totally ok. I've a 126mm Shogun and doing the same was very sketchy
