I think it's a 1997 model year Hardtrax. It's had a few upgrades from the original spec including the chainset and mechs.
The only real anomaly from the catalogue image is that the decals are purple rather than blue.
Minor variations like this aren't that unusual especially for Saracens though.
The real clincher for me, apart from the frame details and colour, is the headset and front brake cable stop. It's identical to those used on the lower end 1997 range.

Thanks for the info, particularly the link to the catalogue. Ive owned this from new but couldnt remember what year I bought it. Its been hanging in the garage for too long and am giving it a few upgrades before putting it back into service. My daughter is desperate to have it but its too big for her as yet.
