Saracen frames on Ebay

Well spotted Mr Chicken.

My old Terratrax was a '96 and I have a '96 brochure... all have canilever brake hangers on the rear stay.

That's why I think mine is a '97.. this is when V brakes were staring to be used extensively.

It is an amazing buy like you said

Great frame, only used as a stopgap until I finished the Marin Pine Mountain but I'm now thinking of getting sprayed/powercoated as she's definitely a keeper!

I hope you keep it as a stop gap as long as Ive kept mine (15ish years) Its not always my main bike, But it always leaves a smile on my face ;)

Nice one Kaya...

What is the decal set you have there?

My old Terratrax has seen 13 yrs service! My son uses it now.

Cheers,

Chaser.

Yes, I have one too...

I bought it for 14.99, it needed the bottom bracket thread chasing which cost me 10.00 at LBS

They refunded me 5.00 even though I did not request this, I was just telling them I had got it sorted and was pleased with such a bargin.

gil_m has just designed the correct period decals for my frame which was a purple one with V brake cable routing and it actually only weighs 4lbs 10oz which is amazingly light for a Saracen frame in this range

I am going to build it with modern parts and keep it as light as possible.

Can't decide if I should use anno blue bits or just keep everything silver?

Here is a pic...

Full story of build in Bikes [to '97] section of forum

Sorry about orientation of pic, forgot to rotate.

silver I reckon... the purple looks well good though

Thanks DR.

Yes, the purple looks really strong in the flesh.. much better than in the pics.

Cheers,

Chaser.

I've been sent one of the black ones (cheers Tad!).

It's exactly the same as the 1991 Saracen I'm selling, which cost £700 as a new bike, with Deore DX equipment.

Really nice frame. I like the thread for the fulcrum clip on the seat tube that lets you run a bottom pull front mech.

I've had two frames from John and his Bankrupt Surplus Bikes shop.
Nice guy to deal with and very fast and generous when sorting out any problems.
If you need any additional info just contact him through eBay and he'll usually respond pretty quickly.

Here are my two, with some more details in my signature links:

The decals are a mixture of different bike mag freebies, I'm just sorting out all my bits and bobs to refurb it.
The decals that will be going on it this time are Gil specials (very nice as well) The frame was powder coated as well about 10 years ago.

my second Bankrupt frame arrived today less than 48 hours after I paid for it

£28 posted c/w frame bolts and seatpost clamp :D

few scratches and it weighs a fair bit but I'm not complaining.

sticking with matt black, mostly black parts and blue details for a semi retro stealth XC / commuter...
