Saracen BackTrax

Another thing you can try for free is to rotate the handlebars a little - most have a bit of "sweep" and you can choose the angle this is set at. It'll be somewhere between straight back and 45 degrees back/up, but even quite small changes can have a significant difference in feel.

Brake lever position, funnily enough, can also change how your hand naturally sits on the handlebars, which can affect comfort on the bike too.

Happy fettling!
Much appreciated! Il give all these little tips a try and see what works. My first challenge though is subtly bringing the bike into the lounge so I can work on it in the warm. Let’s see how that goes down with the other half, fingers crossed😂

After a bit of tinkering the bike fits much better thanks for all of the pointers! I’m after some tyres that will only be used for 40% road riding and 60% gravel. We’re not talking anything crazy! No jumps & no racing etc.. i just want a confidence inspiring tyre I can use comfortably on the road and also on a route similar to the downs link which is mainly compacted gravel with small areas of muddy sections which I can take it slow on. I just want a comfortable/reliable tyre. Thanks

TBH 2" slicks would probably be fine for that usage, just pick a level of puncture protection (which is usually a direct trade off for weight / rolling resistance!) that you're happy with.

I really like Conti Cross King tyres for a fast rolling mountain bike, but I'd say they might be overkill for road / gravel.

I’ve just ordered myself a pair of these thanks to your recommendation. I couldn’t believe how cheap they were. I’ve never heard of this company but the reviews online seem pretty good! How have you found them? Any issues? It’s also a great website! I can definitely see my self spending some money with them once I finally financially recover from Christmas😂

Happy new year

It was someone on here flagged them up under a "cheap tyres" heading. I bought a couple of different sets. Great price. Arrived as expected. All good. Hope it works out for you.
