Santana Moda - finished

It’s taken a while but here she is. Pretty much complete.

I’ll be racing it at Malvern on Saturday.

I was planning on building it as per the spec in the Mountain &City Biking, July 1989 issue. But hey ho I made some changes.

I know the Blackwall’s will divide opinion but I quite like them. And I need sone tyres I’ve got confidence in if I’m going to ride it.

Build spec;

Santana Moda
Columbus Max frame and forks
XT groupset
Matrix ISO-C / XT wheelset
Ritchey zMax 1.95
Salsa stem
Hyperlite bars
Grab on MTN 1 grips
Tioga Carbon seat post
Flite saddle date stamped 1991
American Classic Skewers
XT 737 SPD pedals

I love fillet brazed. They drive me crazy. They are not the most suitable for Nivacrom tubes, but they work well, I can attest.
The blackwalls are also my favorites, they give a more robust, more "beast" appearance. And black is always elegant, it looks good with anything.
Beautiful bike

Well, I really have to thank you.
Rescuing such a beautiful bicycle and allowing us to enjoy its vision is something I appreciate.
It also helps me to know our history better.
I have to admit that years ago I began to like bicycles more than cycling, I suppose it is a logical evolution when I only go out to enjoy the sport and forget about competing.
So any nice, well-made bicycle entertains and amuses me. makes my day

That's a beauty mate. Love a Moda 😍

It was great to ride the Moda at Malvern in the XC Retro race. It really came into its own on the climbs (which was great because I needed all the help I could get)

I’ll get her cleaned up for a BOTM entry before the end of August
