You can drill n' dremmel them out and fill the hole in the seat tube...look much better. Are you going to add more headset spacers or cut down and re-thread the steerer tube?...is it French threaded ?It's a fast tourer mudguard eyes de rigeur. Check out the mudguard eye integrated into the rear drop outs - plush!
The best way to protect the paint is to put the blade back in the drawer, it's a beautiful and rare frame by one of the best French frame builder's Daniel Salmon... please don't ruin itI reckon with the spacer and the inch from the frame gone I'll be able to cut the forks to run ahead stem without any worries. My aim is to run this as a fast, lightweight randonneur with as much lightweight silver kit I can fit on it. I'm tempted to put a full Record Ti group on it.
Just one last question, if I use a hacksaw and my trusty new adjustable guide to cut off the offending bit, what's the best way to protect the paint from the saw blade?
