Saddle woes broken rear plate

So one of my saddles has failed on both places where the rails attach to the curved rear plate .
It is out of warranty, I am deciding whether to send it back for repair.
Before I do this,I am thinking what's causing it to break.
Any input please.
It has not had hard use ,tension is good.

Not something you expect to happen is it when they normally last for decades. Seems like there was a flaw in the steel for it to fail like that?
Definitely worth getting repaired, but I’d be emphasising that something must’ve been wrong.

I just had the rails break on my b17 narrow a week ago. Out of warranty too. I have no idea why yours failed, mine broke just behind the seatpost clamp, I reckon even though it is steel it can fail. I found the parts online so I can fix it myself. Dutch website though. No idea if it is available in the UK but sjs is always a good candidate.

How old is it? Have you tried to see if the manufacturer will fix it for free since as has be said it seems unusual for it to break and suggests and manufacturing flaw.
