Saddle height confusion

@novocaine points out saddle fore/aft - safest starting point is in the middle - Also longer cranks put more strain on the knee (dont go over 170 at your leg length) - and additionally the position of your feet on the pedals.

Professional bike fit is a lot better than it used to be, as the practitioners have started including feedback and experience.

It used to make so many assumptions about the rider, now it is accepted that mamils outweigh pros 10:1🤣

I used to have 175mm crank and was not good for me as you say. I've noticed that 165mm cranks are gaining popularity.
I think my problem is I've been watching a few youtube videos on bike fitting and made some adjustments which have made things worse. Lesson learnt, if it's not broken don't fix it.
Going back to saddle height, the heal method is the one I'm going to stick to, end off.

Its common for an owner to make what seems like the right adjustment, to push something else out elsewhere.

It does seem that intuition often hampers getting comfortable on a bike.

Get someone in the know to look at you riding the bike if you're not sure. Causes of discomfort can be obvious to an observer.
Keep your cadence high👍
