Retro Newbie
Hi all,
I've recently started restoring this SBIKE Daytona 726 after finding two of my dad’s old SBIKES tucked away in a barn at my grandparents’ place.
This particular model is a Daytona 726 from around 1991/1992. The frame is aluminium and originally came equipped with a full Shimano Deore LX M500 groupset, which, luckily, is still in pretty good shape. I’ve had to replace the cables, handlebar, pedals, and tyres, as those were too far gone. Apart from that, it’s mostly original.
Plans from now on include:
Here are a couple of photos of the current state (before adding new pedals and cables). This is my first real bike project, so I would love to hear from anyone with tips,
Cheers!

Plans from now on include:
- Adding new decals (only one side decal is still in okay shape)
- Sanding and repainting the stem and fork (both originally had the same red colour)
- Installing a riser bar – the current setup is a bit too low for comfort
