i have theses forks and ive just bought a hope headset so my steerer is about 15mm short,i need to know if i cut the alu steerer and sleeve it the get it welded would this be ok

Hmmm not ideal.... have you tried the steerer swap thread first?

is it a clamp up steerer or pressed in?

you can just buy a new steerer and get it pressed in... might be cheaper??

yes no look yet the steerer unbolts out of the crown,im an engineer so can get it ali welded with a solid alu sleeve under it

Pretty sure that it will still fit. Check the diameter of yours. If it's 30mm in the clamp area then it will fit I think.

I don't think that is press in specific. I was asking if yours was pressed in.

I've got some broke RST 381 in't shed, replaceable steerer 1.1/8" threadless, i will take some measurements tomoz if interested.

How much length do you reckon you will need?
