RoxShock SID XC HELP!!!!!

Hi,

Trying to find someone that is a wiz with these shocks. I think the ones I have are pre 2000. I have stripped them down as there was some weeping from the upper seals. The problem I have is with the new foam collars that came with the kit are massive and keep pushing the seals back out of the lower leg locations. Also located on one of the top caps is a plastic collar, any ideas which side it goes on ;-)

Any ideas?

As your pic shows, the earlier fork had a narrower foam wiper than the later fork, which you have new ones for You may be able to clean and re-use the original ones.

As for the plastic collar; I'd put it back in whatever side you removed it from!

The foam wipers you have are certainly for a later fork. I don't think you can get the earlier ones; you may be able to cut one the new ones down to the correct size?

Hi,

Apparently I have to take the old oil seal out of the fork lower (last pic). They are no longer used as the amount of oil in the shock doesn't require it.

Anyone heard of this?

Certainly the later forks don't have this part, so, if by removing, the space left looks the right size to fit the foam wiper then sounds about right
