Rocky Mountain Winner?

That the experience talking that I'm missing! But you are right, the search, the find, the negotiation, the pick-up and the first physical scan are the best parts.

Seen from that perspective, this must be a real one? Sharp priced with original forks but with a huge welding lump 😔

These frames had a tendency to crack, looks like a crack repair job done not very neatly

To spot a real one, first you can check this area, this is very distintive of a RM frame steel or aluminium. If the top tube is in the same level as the rear stays, it is not a real one. That is the first thing, after that you can continue checking things like serial number, cable guides etc if the frame has no decals for example.

Not all are!

I picked this 92 Hammer up cheap last year, it's currently in the queue for a full restoration. I rode it for a few weeks before I stripped it down and loved the ride. That generation of frame with the top tube cutting below the wishbone seat stay has such a great silhouette.

A rocky Mountain build seems to be a logical step-up from the mid-range beauties that I've done so far (Marin Bear Valley SE, Trek singletrack 930, Cadex CFM-3 in the best color combination imaginable : shiny carbon, purple and white)

Maybe I should shift towards early 90s hybrids, due to my 1,93 mtr.
DiamondBack Overdrive?? Mmm, Koga Miyata Terraliner Carbolite, etc
You are quite tall, you will need some luck to find the right size. With 26" the Hammer in 21" doesn´t look bad at all, I don´t know if you need a bigger size. Im 1,7 and 26" bicycles in M size (17-18" ) looks really nice. But for example a 29er for me is quite big in any size, but will fit you perfect.

This is 21", the Hammer. I like the frame with the top tube cutting below the wishbone seat stay because they have a bit more modern geometry and rides well, but the early ones are quite cool too.

Just noticed this beauty for sale in my neck of the woods on FB, lots of Syncros bits 😍

Do you know why they have so many Syncros componentes? Because you have find one in original specs 😍

Cleaning, polishing etc etc to give the same original look of the catalog. Good score 👍

Annother interesting story: After the Syncros era, the fundator of Rocky mountain, Grayson Bain, founded annother company in 1996: Race Face components. And started to equip Rocky mountain bicycles. So, Race Face and Roky Mountain had the same origin. Now RF is part of Fox group and still makes quite cool stuff.

RaceFace was earlier in 1991 when he set it up (Rocky was 1981), all sold in 1997 when a lot of bike companies sold up.
Syncros was set up by people who worked at RM, as was Kona etc...
