Rocky Mountain Experts?

c'mon guys!

Check out this very site....

:D
Enjoy

I'm very sorry Gump, no offence meant, but I must say on my computer I find it quite slow to navigate around this site and if I know where else something is, it's much quicker to go there. Plus I assume it's better to put a strain on somebody else's server rather than on RetroBike's.

On the other hand, I do agree that it's very welcome for RB to take copies of things while they're there. Kona.dk used to have all the Kona catalogues, including the ones KonaRetro (and thus RB!) is missing, but it snuffed it and now they're gone sadly, at least AFAIAA.

Do any of the 1856 members here own a Rocky Mountain Cirrus?

Maybe I can compare frame numbers and guess the year that way.... :?:

Are Rocky Mountain themselves either unable or unwilling to date it from the serial number then?

Apart from calling them or writing to them there seems to be a distinct lack of email addy's on their site sadly...total PITA for a website

Yes, they clearly don't want to be emailed direct these days, but I'll bet you if you wrote them a letter they'd reply to it. If you want to use email (and who doesn't?) they seem effectively to be asking you to send your question to Silverfish who might know the answer and if not will fwd it to Rocky.

Sounds like it's worth a shot - Thanks mate :)

I have a 91 catalogue which I am having trouble making digital because it is too large for the scanner. I need to merge 2 scans of the same page to get the whole page in. I need to sign up for a photo posting site somewheres that takes bigger file sizes, as the scans lose all resolution in the conversion to 256KB. I'm open to suggestions on this, anybody? I will post as soon as possible...teaser: I have an 89 catalogue all scanned and ready to go...

Meantime, where did you find the serial number on your frame? I have a Cirrus frame but can't find the ser # on the bottom bracket. I was told that the frame was a potential warranty replacement frame that RMB got rid of after the warranty period expired, I'm wondering if it never got a number stamped on it.

Re RMB's website/bikes/attitude...nothing is as good as it was BITD, that's why we're all on this site. :D

Look on the inside of the left dropout - look across from the casette and you'll see it stamped vertically.

I took you're advice and Silverfish were VERY helpful - forwarded my request to the Technical Manager at Rocky Mountain who says it's a 1990. I then queried what I have been told about decal colour (a 1990 should have orange decals and a 1992 green) (this is to be confirmed but the bikes owner said they were green...)) and they said:

'a possibility is that the frame was manufactured in 1990 but painted and shipped in the following model year; It’s fairly common practice when a manufacturer has inventory of raw frames that remain current through the following season'

This is certainly the case with other MTB's as I have a 1992 Cannondale in 1993 colours...
