Rocky Mountain Altitude - just put on Ebay

Interesting, everything says that is not an Altitude.
and not original finish.
Though of all the years it's 1991, and a Blizzard.

what's the serial number.

Any sort of off ebay price.

When I bought it I was told it was an Altitude but I never researched it at all. I was also told it had been the training bike for a semi pro rider which was feasible because everything on it was real low weight, I swopped some bits (like the narrow flat bars) for more practical kit.
Someone on Ebay has requested the frame number as well so I will check this evening and stick it on here as well, if it proves to be a different model I will change the listing.
I put it on at £150 opening bid because I have no idea what it's worth, on the one hand it's a great steel frame while on the other hand it has surface corrosion - I think I would be disappointed if it didn't go for near £300 because I paid over £400 but I don't really want to take an offer - I will just let the auction run it's course.

Basically the frame design is wrong for an altitude, but right for a Blizzard.
Also the rear brake cable seems to run through a noodle, ala Blizzard

1991 date comes mainly from the cable stops on the headtube (bit of the frame the forks go in)

Ignoring components, it's the frame.

oh and it's still a really nice bike.

Looking at the photos I think it is a Blizzard rather than an Altitude.

Frame no is I91011158 if someone would be so kind as to confirm either way.

The serial number is a Taiwan number, although I don't know what the 'I' factory was/is. 1991 Altitudes were made by Chris Dekerf and have RMnnnn serials. I9101 1158 was built in January 1991.

The 91 Blizzard was made of Tange Prestige Concept, which has distinctive ovalised and tapered top and down tubes. i.e., 27mm wide by 30mm deep at the rear, tapering out to 30mm wide by 34mm deep at the front. I can't see that from your photo, but you should be able to see it quite easily in the metal.

I'll have to take a look at the tubing, I have never noticed it as being tapered. It does have the cable stops on the head tube and the noodle on the seatpost though and the frame has that more stretched out racey look that the Blizzard has.

the irony there is the Altitude was the teams race frame.
Though Rocky only make one frame that year with that look which makes it quite easy. (ignoring custom builds).

Memory serves right, the Blizzard had the Ixx... serials that year.

" I " stands for Ishiwata, a Japanese framebuilder and/or tubing manufacturer if I remeber correctly.

That may/may not have come from me as my '92 Fusion was 'I' I guessed it may have been Ishiwata as it uses Ishiwata tubing. That was quite a few years ago and before anyone posted serials etc.

I've never read it anywhere though.
