Well thought I'd start my ride thread and see what I can do to get the old thing running again.

Here's what I've got and a front wheel, there is a back wheel but you should know what they are like

Now it's not been used for a long time bu was very well used when I build it up.

Thing is what should I do with it, the frames scratched and some decals are of course damaged.

The gripshift should be coming off and the rapidfires back on if I find some going cheap. It certainly needs two new rims, currently a Araya RM395 on the front and a cheapo tin foil Mavic 230 TIB in crappy gold.

Everything else seems to work with my 5 min check. Well apart form teh damage rear mech cable.

I did have some time and happened to be at the right computer to do it.

First few shows some obvious cosmetic damage.
Is it worth doing up the frame and how?
Is it easy to do the fork brace, I assume just a can a black spray paint?
Decals, can these be bought anywhere or made anywhere or possible to get off Rocky Mountain themselves?

Then to specific problems
Hope hub has this spacer missing, it could be in a box but chances of finding it are remote. They are made of Aluminium so possibly find someone to make it or I could bodge it
But since the rims need replacing. I could just buy some new complete wheel front and back (rear is M900 series XTR with cassette, could be XT cassette or XTR once they rivited them on, as I have two of the older crank bolt type that just fell apart and are useless things)

Curiosity, anyone know what this inner ring is and how good. I cannot remember why it is there but I've found the original XTR inner ring to replace it.

Hey, nice bike!

Looks like a 91, though don't think they changed in 92. 93 went to std stays not wishbone etc.

Looks like a 20"?
Decals are pretty hard to come by, but been meaning to speak to someone on here who has just done the artwork for them, and looking to get some people together for repros.

Pick up a nice old set of wheels or re rim the hubs, give it a clean, a little love, then bring it on a retro ride

Ideally put the original synchros forks etc back on for the super sweet look...

oh, Ford radiant red is spot on match for the rear, never tried to colour match the front.

Thats one sweet bike dude and not many of them around. Looks like my size if you decide to sell it but seriously though that is def worth fixing up. As for the fork brace, yeah a can of spray paint will do. I've just done one myself. And yes get rid of those grip shift. awful awful things imo. could never understand why when flying down a hill at high speed you would want to rotate your wrist to change gear and risk losing a good grip on the bars.
