Rockshox Quadra's Spongy and bottom out?

Hi

Ive just bought an old P7 with RockShox Quadra forks...but, they are slow to rebound, and regardless of setting, a good shove and they bottom out?

What is the likely problem and solution, and, are the worth repairing or replacing?

Are they silver/grey? ie Quadra 5's or 10's?
or yellow? ie Quadra 21'R?

I know the silver/grey ones just have one long elastomer rubber in each fork leg, which has most likely deteriorated with age.
It might be possible to find some replacement elastomers, or find some that will fit, or even bodge some springs in there.
But to be honest you could buy another pair of working Quadra's for probably £30 or so, and given the expense of repairing the ones you have, that might be the better option. Or look for some other suspension forks entirely.

they look liek Rockshox MAG forks, possibly MAG21, which are an air/oil fork. (and are much better than the Quadra forks!).

1st thing I'd try is check the air pressure in the forks.You'll need a pump and an adapter. I believe the air valve is at the top of each fork leg, on mine it's hiding under a little screw in the centre of the dial.


I'm no Rockshox expert, but I'm sure someone will be able to help you further.

There's been a few purple oranges coming out of hiding on here recently..... Clockwork, P7, Aluminium O etc...

yeh ive got this and my old devinci on ebay at the mo (over inflated prices as really i want to keep both!!!) as i cant decide which i want to keep!! ill withdraw one when the other sells!....

so if this is the keeper itll get some tlc and new decals!!...really like this colour P7
