Mmm, tough question for me answer if im honest..., The build was riddled with problems, right up until the builds conclusion.
In terms of "Conclusion V Satisfaction", its up there in the number one spot I think.
The first ride out was pretty special, everything went like a dream, no hiccups, no loose or failing components, and the ride was better than I could have imagined it would be really.
Its Quite remarkable to me, just how different it is to ride when compared to the "White Spider" of the same year.
I think the most Noticeable difference has to be the Fork. I wasn't at all ready for it, there is so little flex in the fork.
Im a bit of a fan of the straight blade fork if im honest, and this surpasses most of the aftermarket forks I have in terms of comfort and directness. Certainly an improvement over the straight blade on the Spider.

Thankfully there is always another project to contend with, despite the stress that some builds can cause. Each project has its ups and downs as you know and some run smoother than others.
Im excited to see a lot of builds here finished soon hopefully, Adrians Swallow for one ( that's a bike id love to ride) and I know Gio have some special projects coming to conclusion, hopefully the threads will be full of finished Uk bikes pretty soon.
Untill then I have a few on the go, but I guess the bike im looking forward to the most at the moment is the Dave Yates "Vulcan" E-Stay, whilst its a later bike than this (as most are) its a far easier project to contend with but im hoping worth the time and the effort none the less.

2nd time I've read this thread now in as many days, sterling job, amazing job, superlative! Words cannot really do this build justice Carl so its just as well you've included plenty of pics for us to drool over. Thinking back to you telling me about "the Unicorn" I never imagined it would be so sweet, shame on me but hats of to you once again, this build has everything and it is truly a great bike, stunning.
Feels like Xmas again and its not even mine!

You cant imagine how long it sat on the work bench waiting for me to try and squeeze a campag headset into a space wear an XT had once been.....after I had made the school boy error... of painting it with campag motifs before measuring up...
It took me a while to have the courage, but with some very careful work on the lathe, and making a cable hanger and nipple to fit, it all came together nicely, and without incident.

......to think I was talking to roberts about making a stem for me several months ago and they had one in the draw! :facepalm:
love the build and the finished article.......if nothing else gives us all something to aspire to in our UK builds

REQUIEM.......25th Anniversary.
I thought it about time to add my 2 pennies worth.
I have seen many of these bikes that you labour over, loose sleep over, spend hours hunting for rare parts over and lavish time on, but this one really is the one that you have been waiting for.
The finish on the bike is not truly represented in simple photos on a screen. You have to be able to touch it and feel the texture of quality that oozes from its simple steel tubes that have been crafted into what could really be called 'Art'.
Since i was fortunate enough (It cost me a pint or 2) to be allowed to ride the bike over Christmas even though it was clearly to big for me, i feel that I can offer a semi-independent judgement of the ability that The Sinnerman (aka Carl) puts into all that he does.
I have never liked the Campag stuff, I always thought it to 'Showy' and not suitable for a bike that was meant to get muddy and possibly broken. I have changed my mind. Its not often that I admit I may have been wrong, and this is not an admission, merely an acknowledgement of other worlds.
I wonder if I can restore my 1985 Maverick to the same factory spec as this ready for its 30 years next year. I doubt it.
If ever a bike deserved a special banner for simply existing...........
