How hilly is it? Only got 2 gears

Its pretty flat really.
It would be great if you could make it.
The distance thing has always been a challenge, its one reason why I also thought of a two day ride so to try and make it more worthwhile coming all this way.

Ill try and do that ride. My folks stay in Dornoch and I have a bike up there. Its not pure vintage though, its and old frame with modern bits.

I can vouch for that. I'm an old fossil and do that ride a couple of times a year on single speeds, often on a bike even older than me.

It's the bit between Ullapool and the Ledmore Junction that has the hills (very nice ones ) and we're not doing that.

The wind is the only potential problem, but that applies anywhere up here.

Ok, providing there's no international disaster I should be there, either by myself or I'll drag the Mrs away for a camping weekend.

I'll bring the Mercian as my cross bike is far too ugly to be seen in public

Been thinking about this and the two day one does sound appealing but the one dayer does not. Even if I don't join you I feel I should try and get a wee bit of cycling up there this summer. I have a 3 speed roadster I'm sure epicyclo would approve of taking shape nicely in my flat. Heavy and slow but comfy as I found in Holland and Belgium a few years back.
Watching developments on this but not into drop barred road stuff anymore.

It can be anything you want to ride on the road Velo, doesn't have to be a drop barred roadster, it can be anything at all. I can do the two dayer whenever you want. I am looking at doing the western side on a weekend in spring, staying somewhere in the middle on the Saturday. If you want to come up for this one I can make a Saturday ride up and we can stay somewhere Saturday night as there was someone else talking about making a weekend of it. If you could get the train to Inverness for Saturday morning I am happy to pick you up to make a two dayer. I'm sure Brian would join us as well. Inverness is about 2 1/2 hours south for me but would like to make it a two dayer but seen as there is already interest for the Sunday I would just make it two seperate rides type thing.
Anybody have any thoughts or interests in a two dayer?
