Famously Sean Kelly 'sold' the 1986 Tour of Lombardy, Kelly had won 2 of them at the time, and would go on to with a third. Gibi needed a big win. Kelly had the capable Acacio da Silva with him in the break, De Gribaldy came alongside Kelly and discussions ensued, Kelly in turn had a word with Acacio, and went back to the team car to De Gribaldy again. The ageing Gibi then attacked, and Kas, the only team with two in the break, did nothing. Kelly admits himself he won a lot of races but 'sold one or two also'
