With the Olympic road titles coming up, any pictures of Connie Phinney, Rebecca Twigg or Alexi Grewal?

Rebecca Twigg, well it's a sad story, basically she's homeless, either living on the streets, or in shelters. She couldn't get a handle on life after racing she has said. I recall drooling over pictures of her in her skinsuits back in the day, in Winning etc. A really sad tale.

Ditto. Must be one of the saddest stories in cycling. There were a few good write ups when she was "re-discovered" locally.

Incredible to be at such a pinnacle and everything that that entailed and to loose her footings and free fall.

She absolutely had it all, great talent, and beauty both inside and out. We wish her well wherever she is today.

Like a furnace of energy. I look at that picture and think ( while she is not full throttle on the rivet ) christ, how can you mount a lo-pro like that and be so sublime. It all looks so right. And no doubts because there is a massive inner confidence at this point. More like her wits and drive was one way without brakes and the track was her life line and sanctuary of sorts to drive on? When it all just came together magically for those superb moments for us spectators and observers it is hard to imagine what is actually going on her head - and how to deal with it.

That is just the classic 80s photo for women's racing isn't it. Nowadays she wouldn't be cut loose after racing that's for sure. A rider like her would be straight into the coaching/management end of things, especially on the track. Maybe she didn't want to, or the USCF weren't keen, but nowadays she would then be headhunted by another country, for big bucks. Where she should be this month is trackside at the Olympic velodrome as head of the USA team. All that experience and knowledge just gone to waste.
